How to convert BTC to SATS

Enter a Bitcoin amount above. The calculator translates it through the relevant public reference and displays an indicative amount in Satoshis. You can reverse the direction without leaving the page.

One BTC always equals 100,000,000 satoshis. No market price is needed for this denomination conversion.

A fixed Bitcoin denomination

This conversion uses the protocol unit relationship only: one BTC equals 100,000,000 sats. No exchange, order book, fiat rate or stablecoin is needed, so the result changes only when the entered amount changes.

About Bitcoin

Bitcoin is the native unit of the Bitcoin network. One BTC can be divided into 100,000,000 satoshis, and control depends on the keys required to spend its transaction outputs.

BTC is used to measure bitcoin balances, transaction outputs, fees and market prices. The protocol's issuance schedule is separate from the exchange rate shown by a venue.

About Satoshis

A satoshi, commonly shortened to sat, is the smallest standard Bitcoin unit. One sat equals 0.00000001 BTC and 100,000,000 sats equal one BTC.

Sats make small payments, Lightning invoices and fee amounts easier to read without writing many leading zeros.

When this conversion is useful

  • Reading lightning invoices and small payments
  • Checking wallet balances without leading zeros
  • Learning bitcoin's fixed unit structure

The page answers a unit question only. It cannot decide whether either asset, venue, custody method or transaction is suitable for a reader.

Risks the number does not show

BTC: BTC has no central price and can move sharply. A conversion says nothing about custody, transaction finality, taxes or whether a purchase suits a reader.

SATS: A sat is a denomination, not a different token. Anyone offering a separate 'satoshi coin' may be using confusing or misleading language.

Spread, order-book depth, slippage, funding charges, withdrawal fees and taxes remain outside the calculation.

How is the BTC to SATS rate calculated?

Translate bitcoin into satoshis using Bitcoin's fixed unit relationship.

What is the main difference between BTC and SATS?

Bitcoin is the native unit of the Bitcoin network. One BTC can be divided into 100,000,000 satoshis, and control depends on the keys required to spend its transaction outputs. A satoshi, commonly shortened to sat, is the smallest standard Bitcoin unit. One sat equals 0.00000001 BTC and 100,000,000 sats equal one BTC.

Can I trade using this converter?

No. Bitcoin.now is informational only and does not accept orders, connect accounts or provide executable quotes.

Why might another platform show a different result?

Venues have separate order books. Spread, liquidity, fees, slippage and timing can all produce a different executable value.

How to read BTC as satoshis

This direction starts with a decimal bitcoin balance and turns it into a whole-number satoshi count. It is useful when a wallet, fee, or Lightning invoice is easier to understand in smaller units.

01

Keep up to eight BTC decimals

Bitcoin amounts can be written to eight decimal places. Extra decimals do not represent a smaller standard on-chain unit.

02

Multiply by 100 million

Move the decimal point eight places to the right. For example, 0.0025 BTC becomes 250,000 sats.

03

Do not apply a market price

BTC and sats are names for the same asset. The denomination result stays exact even while BTC/USD changes.
